5. Do I have to use a silkie chicken?
As the packaging states, the silkie chicken is the preferred choice of protein for this herbal soup due to the medicinal properties of a silkie chicken which further enhance the herbal soup. However, you can also substitute with a regular chicken, chicken legs/thighs, or even shiitake mushrooms. This will slightly alter the flavor of the herbal soup but you will still have the essence of the herbal soup.
